On 23 April 2016, Česká Beseda Sarajevo organised an unforgettable trip to Travnik. They started to Travnik by bus in front of the National Museum in the morning. At the entrance into the Vezir's Town there is a famous restaurant Plava Voda and Lutvina Kahva (Blue Water and Lutvo's cafe) where the Grand Duke Rudolf had coffee on 18 June 1887, which is also described in Andrić's Bosnian Chronicle. It was the first break with unavoidable coffee. Česka Beseda members and their guests walked through the ancient town to the Heritage Museum and did a tour of the Museum with a professional guide. We also visited a house where Ivo Andrić was born, our only Nobel Prize in Literature Winner. We spent free time choosing between climbing to the old fortress or seeing other Travnik's tourist sights. After that we went to Vitez where the lunch had been arranged in the Etno Selo Čardaci Tourist Resort. We had lunch at the restaurant Kod Mlina (At the Mill) where excellent meals were made of fish from the nearby fish farm. They even served fish sausages, burgers or shish-kebabs there. After lunch the excursionists did a tour of the Ethno Village resort, and some of them used a salt room within the Spa Center . They returned to Sarajevo in evening hours.

Masaryk in the Czech Corner

In the year when it marks the 20th anniversary of renewed work of the Česka Beseda Sarajevo the contents of Czech Corner is also getting better and better in terms of quality. This year's first Corner was held on 13 January 2016 at its regular time, the second Wednesday in a month. The gathered members were addressed by our Czech Ljuba Ristić who spoke about less known particulars about the life of a great Czech humanist and a statesman Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (Hodonín 7.03.1850. – Lány 14.09.1937.) T.G.Masaryk was the first President of Czechoslovakia and he was elected to that office for another three times. It is interesting that Masaryk and Ljuba Ristić take origin from the same place Hodonín near Brno which made her presentation even more charming.
